Welcome!

Welcome to the Volunteer Vacations website, which has been created by the class of SCCC WEB110 for the Fall Quarter class project. But first, what are Volunteer Vacations?

Volunteer Vacations are a Meaningful Way to Re-Energize

Volunteer vacations are short trips you can take to communities around the world where you can not only experience the richness of the culture but also volunteer your skills to help the community in need. In just 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks, volunteer vacations will give you a renewed sense of energy. You can gain enriching experiences, memories, and friendships that last a lifetime. An amazing sense of camaraderie and 'family' often grows among volunteer team members. Live and work with local people on life-affirming service programs for short vacations or for extended stays.

Voluntourism is about making a difference, while growing your worldview and interaction in the global community. You can impact a local community in significant ways while learning/practicing another language and enjoying the experience of visiting a new culture and environment.

Examples include:

  • Baja Turtles & Camping Adventure
  • Fiji Teaching & Building
  • Teach English in Guatemala
  • Ecological & Cultural Discovery Tour of Costa Rica
  • Surf & Teach English in Bali
  • South Africa Teaching & Building
  • Wildlife, Beaches & Community Work in Tanzania
  • Volunteer on Community Programs in Peru
  • Assist research projects at the whales calving ground in Maui
